Legends of Drift
We got invited to Legends of Drift, and honestly, at first I didn’t know what to expect. Turns out it wasn’t just a drift event — it was also the set for a new movie called Drifter, starring Sung Kang from Fast & Furious.
The whole thing felt surreal. Huge film crews, cameras everywhere, three identical Corollas built for different scenes, and even our pit cart ended up getting in a scene. Our Corvette was a background car in a bunch of shots too, which was pretty cool.
When it came to competition, the stands were packed — thousands of fans every day. Battles would stop so the film crew could grab shots with the real crowd reactions, which made the whole vibe feel different than any event we’ve been to.
The tough part was my Corvette fighting oil pressure issues all weekend. In the middle of a battle with Rich Whiteman, we made the call to park it and jump into the 2JZ BMW wagon. Totally different car, but we went full send anyway. Flames, limiter, and short gears — the crowd loved it. Managed to snag third that day, and kept pushing through the weekend.
Even with the car troubles, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Real competition, real fans, and a chance to be part of a movie that actually shows drifting the way it is. Now it’s back to the shop to fix the Corvette and get ready for the next round of DMCC!
